Why EssayLady?
I have the unique qualification of experiencing admissions essays from both sides of the table - as a student writing application essays for top-rated universities and prestigious scholarships, and later as an academic advisor reading essays to make admissions decisions. As a senior in high school, I gained admission to Cornell, Duke, Boston College, and the University of Florida. A National Merit Commended Scholar, Coca-Cola Foundation Scholar, and Rotary Scholar, I funded my entire college education with merit scholarships.
I graduated cum laude with two degrees from the University of Florida, including a B.A. in English. I then accepted a position as an academic advisor in the undergraduate Honors College at UF. I know what admissions officers want from application essays, because I've been one! As an advisor, I read over a thousand essays from students seeking admission to the ultra-competitive Honors Program.
I've helped students apply for prestigious scholarships such as the Rhodes, Marshall, and Fulbright scholarships. I've critiqued essays for students accepted to CalTech, Wharton, and Kellogg MBA programs, among others. I can help you create an essay that presents your best self to admissions and scholarship committees.
What I don't do...
I WILL NOT write an essay for you. It's plagiarism, it's unethical, and it's unfair to you and the school/scholarship to which you're applying. They want to get to know YOU, not me.
Instead, I will show you how to make your own writing clear, concise, and compelling. I will share the invaluable perspective of a former academic advisor. My services range from a one-time edit for grammar, punctuation, and other type errors, to helping you generate ideas and take your concept to completed work.
Your words, only better.
"I never dreamed the EssayLady would so clearly and quickly articulate a list of essentials for making these essays stand out among the hundreds of admissions essays requiring gallons of Starbucks to keep college admissions counselors alert. Her quick tutorial was so easy to understand and pass on that I immediately put the highlights into an e-mail to our students in a check list form. Soon their essays began to create their own Starbucks effect. Thank you so much, EssayLady! I look forward to partnering with you in the future!"
